2011 - The Year of Trips and Travelling

So this is the year! The year that I leave for my much anticipated Europe backpacking trip with my great friends Lacey and Angelique! This trip has been in the plans for 6 years - and now the year is here!! So we leave June 27th from Toronto and head to London and that's the day we become citizens of the world - travelling around 18 countries in the span of 3 months. We have a tentatively mapped out path of our travels that are VERY play-it-by-year. This is our loosely, but well thought out, path we're planning to take:

At the very end of the trip - as long as everything is still working out - we're going to go back to Germany for Octoberfest. And the one things we ABSOLUTELY have planned is the famous tomato fight in Spain; I've always wanted to do it!

And then at the end, Lacey will be leaving Angelique and I as she boards a plane back to Canada just in time for winter; while Ange and I will be getting on a different plane for the long-anticipated, and equally long dreaded flight to Australia where we will become new immigrants there and become Aussies for a few years at least. I CAN'T WAIT! I've been dreaming of this day to come for years! I'm SUPER excited to leave for all the crazy adventures that are inevitable going to ensue while abroad, but I'm also a little nervous about leaving the familiar of my friends and family and my familiar life and country, to head to the complete unknown (including where Ange and I will live other than the city). However, the unknown of what's ahead is also the thrill of it all! This year is definitely going to be another INSANELY ridiculous year!

Before my emigrating escapades, there are a few smaller (but with not doubt their own ridiculous adventures and stories) trips that I have planned:

- There's the much anticipated trip to St. Catherine's (probably next month). For the past 4 years while in university, a couple of me and my really close friends have been making our rounds at visiting each other - one friend per year kinda idea. Each year, that trip is when we're all together getting blitzed out of our heads and celebrating being together, always results in awesome stories. And Lacey is the last one in school at the moment and is the only one who hasn't hosted this trip, so we'll be heading down to visit her for a weekend of debauchery.

- There's the 3rd annual "Spring Break" trip that Emilie and I go on. Two years ago it was Varadero Cuba for a week of alcohol poisoning and sun, and last year was Los Angeles California to life the life of the rich and famous. This year's trip will be different in that it's not going to be just Emilie and I this time - we've invited a few of our friends to come along it they'd like to party with us in a sunny, beachy, all-inclusive, 24-hour booze, cheap resort down south. Our really great friend Brandon (aka "America") from California, and his good friend Melissa (who we met on our last trip to Cali in October) have already said that they are a for sure GO! Our other peeps said they'll get back to us when we figure out dates and prices (which is the plan for this week; although, we know we're going in March).

- Then in May, there's my final trip to California of 2011. I have fallen in love with California (as I somehow always knew I would), and the fact that one of my best friends (again Brandon lol) lives there, makes going back REALLY easy. Plus, I wanted to be able to see, party with, and say "see you later" to Brandon before I take on Europe and Australia. Although....I have already been talking about organizing a "meet up" of some people, in Cali at some point when I'm living in Australia.

- The last trip planned is a family get-together that I felt is really important to me to have before I flee Canada for an undetermined amount of time. I wanted to be able to see and hang out with my entire family one last time before I leave; and despite the fact that I have a SUPER tiny family, it always seems impossible to have us all together at the same time anymore. So, at the beginning of June, my whole family will be getting together at my uncle and aunt's cottage for a weekend. I can't wait for this because we used to spend so much time at the cottage when I was growing up, and as the years went on and we all got older, we just seemed to go up there less and less often as a family. So, I can't wait to see everyone back there.

So apparently, this will be the year of trips and travelling. I'll definitely work my hardest to keep everyone updated on what's going on, where I've been, and who it's been with, as much as I can. I'm pumped for this year!

Thanksgiving Ridiculousness

Last week I started orientation for my new full-time nursing position at the Hospital here and on top or that had things most evenings and that is why I've been MIA again and not blogging...cause my life has been CRAZY!  BUT....last weekend was Thanksgiving here in Canada and again, that weekend was ridiculous!  I didn't go home to Timmins since Lacey was coming in town to have Thanksgiving with her family here and I haven't seen her in awhile so figured I'd stay to see her and then since I wasn't supposed to work this week, I'd just go home for a week to visit friends and family back home.
Lacey's bus was 3 hours late so she only got in to Ottawa after 3am, so naturally I went out and got really drunk and rather than going to bed when she was here (cause I had orientation again the next day), I stayed up till after 5am talking to her....which led to me being about an hour late for orientation.  I had a Thanksgiving supper at my bro's place with my sis and my bro's gf and his roommates.  The supper was actually REALLY good!  Then I went to Lacey's aunt's place and after our hot-tub I ended up crashing there for the night.  The next day I went to yoga (more for the instructor than the actual class, but the class is good too lol).  Bekka had her first party at her place in Hull so I went to that and it was decked out! Projector screens with lasers and candles everywhere and a plounge (pillow lounge).  It was so sweet!  And the people there were so chill and cool.  I left before they went to the bar cause Cassie was going to my place to predrink before we were to head to Edge to go dancing and celebrate with Laurice since it was her last time going dancing before she moves to Elliott Lake on saturday.  After a very dangerous ride on the back of a scooter by someone who just got the scooter that day and still didn't know how to drive it and me without a helmet and almost dying....I got off and got Cassie to pick me up lol.  We went to my place and downed our booze and headed to the bar.  We danced up a storm and saw the person I had gone on a date with earlier that week chatting it up with my ex - that was interesting lol. I met a guy from a an MTV show and he surprised me a LOT and is actually SUPER sweet and nice!  He's also hilarious and was making Cassie and I die laughing at his jokes.  After kicking Cassie home (sorry again Cass), the weekend just continued at this ridiculous pace!  Another Thanksgiving supper at Lacey's Aunt's, and another afternoon with "Mr. Nice Guy", then back to the real world and had to have my last orientation day monday.  And that my friends was my Thanksgiving.....minus a few details ;)

Introducing Sex Into a New Relationship

I was just talking to my awesome friend Angelique and we were discussing what "the general rule" is for how many dates into a new relationship before it's "acceptable" to have sex. She had said that she told a co worker 3 and her co worker pretty much gave her the "you're a huge slut bag with a loose vagina" look and so Ange has asked me and Lacey to get our opinions (possibly not the two greatest individuals for this question lol). I told her that 3 or 4 seems "normal" for most "normal" people but that it should be whenever feels right whether that's the first day or a month in (two months is too long....people lose interest haha). And Lacey too apparently gave the 3 date rule. So now, I wanna know what others think.....is the 3 date rule really acceptable? Or are my friends and I just crazy horned up fools who can't seem to restrain ourselves? How long is "acceptable"?

Honey I'm Home and I've Had a Hard Day

Last Thursday was the last time Emilie was in Ottawa; she left her hometown for the past 5 years to drive away with her dad and all her belongings in a white rapist van headed for her real hometown of Scarborough to live with her parents till she gets a job and moves out on her own. But I'll update you on the night before she left....we had a party at her empty apartment since Emilie, Laurice, Jess and Emilie's dad and I loaded all Emilie's stuff into the rapist van while Emilie put clothes in two suitcases. Lol, yes she was SOOO helpful! hahahaha. So as we partied the night away with drinking games, pseudo sangria and using all the booze left in the apartment, Spice Girls music, dancing while the kitchen light strobed and Laurice putting Waka Waka by Shakira on about 18 times in the night, interrupted only by the occasional cry fest as a friend had to leave. At the end of the drunken night, we walked Laurice's drunk ass home and then cabbed to my apartment for Emilie and my final sleepover. After about 4 hours sleep we woke up to cab back to Emilie's to throw out everything left from the party and head for breakfast (for the last time) at Moondog - due to everyone's over intoxication from the previous night, only Emilie and I made it to breakfast lol. After breakfast we chilled on the floor of Emilie's while Laurice finally woke up and met us to chill till Emilie's dad came to get her at 10. While chilling, Laurice told us that after we brought her home, she ended up going for a HUGE run all night long while WASTED! hahaha. Then the time came for her dad to get her and the tears happened (although I held them in good till I left her apartment and headed to the bus stop). She left. The final Emilie in Ottawa moment for me was me crossing the street infront of where we got drunk many times (La Maison), heading to campus bus stop with tears in my eyes and hearing her yell "Bye Lover!" as I turn to see her drive away with her dad....in the rapist van. I decided to bump my flight home up to be immediately after Emilie leaves so that I could get away to see friends and family back home and be distracted if even just for the weekend. It worked....I landed in Timmins. I had a great weekend - jam packed busy as always when I'm home for too short a period. Hung out with my mom and Jean-Guy a lot. Saw my Baba a number of times (even surprised her and went to CHURCH after drinking all the previous day!!). Friday I drank with Jo and did our regular dose of stupid shit and practical jokes in various locations. Saturday was golf tournament with Me, Kaitlyne, Lacey and Jo....so basically a drinking tournament with some golf. We had brought 2 40s of rum and a 26er of Malibu with us and then bought beer while playing too. So much fun! After the tournament and supper, we went to Kate's house for a pool party but the pool was WAY too cold so we settled for drinking games at the kitchen table. Then we headed out to the new strip club to watch the wrinkliest 40 year old stripper use a pole and then headed to other bars before heading our own ways home. Then in the morning i went to church and then had lunch with fam, headed to visit with Brianne for a bit before heading to the airport to fly back to Lonelyville. I arrived in Ottawa and it was instantly weird to not have emilie. We ususally talk on the phone from the time I get on the bus at the airport till I get home planning when we're hanging out that night and this time we couldn't. I hated it and was mega bummed. Thankfully Cassie came to pick me up and bring me to her place to hangout with her and her hubby Brent to cheer me up (and it did). And today?......back to being shitty without Emilie. I want her to come back! But, I'll survive - with the help of all the people I know in Ottawa! So that's been my hiatus in Shania Twain Land!

Family Gone

My family picked Lacey up this morning at 6:30am and made their 8 hour trek homeward. Yesterday morning Lacey and I went for breakfast with my mom, her boyfriend, my grandma and my sister. After breakfast, Lace and I walked home and stopped in a few sex stores along the way trying to find good, cheap porn. We made it home, then took a nap and when we woke up we went into cleaning overdrive and cleaned my entire apartment, laundry and all. We cleaned the apartment because I had my family over for a dinner party. The party was awesome! Lacey helped me out sooo much with cleaning and prepping for supper. The fam loved dinner and everything and then lacey and I kept drinking till Ricky was ready to come over. Then we went to Ricky's friend's bday party for a bit. When we left my apartment, Ricky was backing out of my parking lot (he was sober) and we heard his car crunch and my response was "don't worry it's just a tree. Keep going". To which Lacey replied "Uh, no, it's a metal fence!". My bad. After the bday party, we picked Emilie up and went to Mercury to go dancing. Fun night, not so fun waking up at 6 so Lacey could leave. I'm happy I got to see them all since it's been 6 months! Can't wait to see them again at the end of the month. And hopefully Ricky's luck gets a little better! haha.

24 Hour Recap

This is my 24 hour recap of what I've done...woke up still drunk from the awesome dinner party at Derek's and then going dancing at Patty Boland's. So I took the morning slow, including lazing on the couch watching Will and Grace and trying to rehydrate the screaming cells in my brain. I tidied the apt a bit before Emilie came over (we hadn't seen each other in like a week and a half, but felt like a month) and we drank a bottle of chardonnay while watching Sicko and talking. A bottle and slight retoxication later, Emilie had to leave to catch her bus to have supper with her family. Pretty much as soon as she walked out my apartment, my mom called to say that my family was downstairs (thanks for the warning! lol). I went downstairs to greet my mom and my baba and mom's bf and my sister. My mom brought a bunch of stuff from back home for me, so we brought the stuff upstairs and did a quick tour of my apartment for them. As they walked out of my apartment to head back down the elevator my mom says "you know we're going for supper, is that what you're wearing?" I was told that dinner reservations were for 7:30, not 6 (the time it was) to which she replied "ops, I thought I told you the change of plans. We'll grab stuff or get ready really quick, we'll be in the car". So a change of shirt and pants, a little hair paste and I'm heading down the car with a spare toothbrush in hand. We went to The Westin, and mom and baba changed to be ready for dinner at Milestones with my brother and his girlfriend (Jess) and her family; Dave and Jess got back from Australia the night before and that day was Jess' grad. After dinner, we went to Dave and Jess' place where they gave each of us something they picked up from Australia - they got me a really nice Quicksilver shirt. After that I spur-the-moment went and grabbed Blizzards with Ricky from Dairy Queen! Haven't been there in forever - it was delish, but medium was way too big after dinner and without the gym for two days (don't worry I made up for it today in the dungeon cause I know you're all worried lol). Chilled at home after the DQ and Westboro car-cruise; again watching W&G. Today I pretty much lazed around, planned the dinner party I'm having with my fam at my place tomorrow and set up LACEY COMING TO VISIT ME!!!! My friend Mike is in Ottawa and his truck is back home in Timmins and he needs it so he's been desperately looking for someone to drive his truck down for him. So since Lacey just got home from St. Catherine's and I haven't seen her in forever she's going to do it and it works perfect cause she'll get in tomorrow in time for my dinner party, then wednesday we'll hangout all day and go dancing at HUMP night, then Thursday she's gunna get a ride home with my mom. I CAN'T WAIT! I'm currently sitting on the patio at Bridgehead (to use their internet and get my caffeine fix) while I wait for when my mom is ready and then I'll head over to The Westin to take my baba out for dinner; it's going to be a INTERESTING time with her that's for sure, but I'll update you on that tomorrow when we see how it goes. Emilie and Laurice are having their convocation today (SUPER happy for them, not so impressed that I'm not with them) and I'm expecting and planning to go out after their done. The day's beautiful out and so many of the people I love are here or coming and I'm in a great mood! Loving Life, hope you are too!

It IS Ridiculous!

So as many of you know, my life is RIDICULOUS! Well today just further proves that to anyone who was still in doubt. This morning I had stats class and I was hungover for it cause Emilie and I went dancing last night (which was lots of fun) and then when I finally got home in the afternoon, I was still SUPER tired. I was watching Will and Grace while starting to drift into a nap on the couch while I texted back and forth with Ricky. Then I was woken from my nap by my phone ringing. I answered the phone to be greeted by a guy who proceeded to tell me that I won the ballot contest, that I randomly entered on Victoria Day, and the first thing that came out of my mouth was “are you fucking kidding!?” To which he replied “no, I’ve very serious”. I then thought that this was Ricky playing a prank on me, but quickly realized he didn’t know that I had even entered this draw; only Emilie did. So I was on the phone with these people for about half an hour finding out what I won etc, trying to remain calm while on the phone, all I could think about was my mother’s voice telling me ‘if it sounds too good to be true it is’ and that I hope I’m not being scammed and I’m going to end up on Oprah! But I tried to also stay optimistic the whole time too. Ultimately, with checking with people (Lacey, my mom, lacey’s aunt, and logic) we are certain this isn’t a scam! So now after much pacing, lots of joyous outbursts of “Holy Fuck!”, “O My God!”, “Jesus Christ!”, etc and FREAKING OUT and doing a happy dance while on the phone with Lacey, I’m am beyond excited to say that I won a trip for me and three friends to Universal Studios in Orlando Florida, Daytona Florida, and Las Vegas! F’N RIDICULOUS!!!! I’m soooo pumped! My life IS ridiculous!

Lacey

So as I sit in Bridgehead (a fair trade, organic coffee shop) in my athletic CK black briefs (to allow more breathability on this scorching hot and humid day), I'm racking my brain to think of something I wanna blog about. I came here to do my blogging cause since I moved to my new apt I decided to not get internet but rather tether internet from my phone's data plan when I need internet and when I wanna stream tv (cause I don't have a tv or cable either) I just go to campus and catch up on my shows; however, I've reached my data plan max for the month and so I'm stealing internet here to blog. I've already posted on my Underwear You Want It blog but for some reason, today it's easier to write about underwear and not about my life! Hahaha. And as the caffeine is definitely kicking in, as seen in my jittery body and twitching legs, it gets harder and harder to concentrate on a topic to blog about. I ask Lacey via Facebook chat what I should blog about and she give me no good advice here (thanks Lace). Then I know! I'll write about Lacey today! She's RIDICULOUSLY important to me AND besides her being one of my best friends and one of the most amazing people in the world, she's been with me in countless ridiculous times in my life! So here we go, all about Lacey today....

I met Lacey in Grade 6 when I just moved to Timmins from Ottawa in the middle of the school year. I remember the moment we met and I think neither of us had any clue how important that moment would be to lead us to this spot 11 years later. We became UBER close in high school with our many drunken adventures and parties, etc. Many of our friends are the same so we were together all the time. Remember when you leave high school and it's the biggest thing in the world cause everyone's leaving and you don't know what you're going to do with your life and everybody's like "nothing's going to be the same" and you think you'll never see anyone again; kinda how it feels all over again when you graduate university. I remember our almost sacred "good byes" that our core group of friends did at Tim Hortons by J&B (yeah Tim Hortons! We're from northern Ontario, not a lot of places to hang out! Get over it! lol). I've learned since being in university that yeah things and friends change when major life events (like leaving for university); however, I believe people come into your life for a purpose and are meant to be there when and for the amount of time they are there. These "life events" can almost be seen as a test to cleanse yourself of people who aren't really in your life for any beneficial reason anymore and the ones that stay are meant to and the bond gets stronger. If the friendship is important to each other, like Lacey and mine, then distance doesn't matter. Granted it SUCKS that I can't just see Lacey whenever I want cause she lives over 400km away, but she's come to visit me here a few times over the years and I've seen her when I've gone to Toronto and Guelph, as well as when we're both back home. It's almost like Lacey and I do live close though because we talk on the phone pretty much every day for usually a couple hours on end. I can't wait till I can see her again though and party with her! Some of the best partying in my life was along side this woman!

I honestly can't imagine what my life would be like if I had never met Lacey or if she ever leaves my life! I know she'll be around for a long time (cause forever is a really long time! lol). We are each other's emotional rocks when things are shitty, stressful or rough, and each other's shrinks when we need advice. Next summer, she will be one of the 4 of us backpacking Europe (which will be amazing and I'll be surprised if we don't die!) and then after that when I move to Australia for the year, I know that things won't change with Lacey and I cause we'll still talk all the time and I imagine see each other just as much as we do now.

Lacey, you're AMAZING and i love you! I can't wait till I see you again (and get drunk!) Both our mom's treat each other as their own kids and I'm excited to see how much stronger our relationship will grow over my lifetime. Till then, I look forward to hearing you on the phone today and can't wait to see you when I go back home for the golf tournament (which is really more of a drinking tournament to me with the option to golf)!

Love ya! Don't ever change! (unless you're going to change where you live to be Ottawa and then Australia lol).

The Underwear It Counts

I was talking this morning to Emilie about how I should've started a blog exclusively about underwear and called it "Underwear It Counts". I love underwear; especially Calvins! Today was a 40% sale at CK and I went (against the advice of Emilie) and I said that I would "only look". I now have so many pairs of underwear that I pretty much need a drawer just for underwear. I also have pairs that I still haven't worn yet; kinda like saving them for a special occasion or rainy day. When I got into the CK store in the mall, a male model wearing underwear and a t shirt gave me a coupon for 10% off next time I'm in the store. I wasn't really focusing on what he said so I had to read the coupon after to know what he had handed me. Hahaha. Lacey called my cell and I talked to her (she was not impressed I was at the store). I told the sales people who approached me that I was only there to look and a lot of people would be unimpressed if I bought anything. Needless to say....I caved! I bought two pairs! I had 4 in my hand at one point, so 2 pairs is an accomplishment in itself! The sales people were even bringing me pairs from the back to look at. After leaving the store (and the underwear model) behind, I went into Lululemon to check out their underwear cause a friend told me they're amazing. He even had the audacity to say they're better than Calvins!! *gasp!* Haha. I looked at them, and quickly realized....I had to leave the mall now! So I put the underwear down and hurried to the bus stop and bussed home.

My Epic 18th Birthday!

My 18th birthday was one of my most epic birthdays! Lacey had a party for me at her house where her and I attempted Century Club. For anyone who is not aware, Century Club is where you take a shot of beer every minute for a hundred minutes with no breaks. We had my stopwatch counting down the minute and when it'd alarm, Lacey and I would down our ounce. Even when one of us had to go pee, we'd bring the shot with us and when the other yelled time.....shot was taken. As we got higher and higher up, time seemed to shorten between minutes. We had other friends at the party, some drinking (not doing Century Club) and a lot of sober people. We had sober people keeping the tally of our shots so we knew when we'd reach 100 and so that in my drunken state I wouldn't screw up lol. Century Club sounds kinda easy, but it REALLY isn't. It works out to 9 1/2 beer in an hour and 40 mins. Lacey made it to 51 and then tapped out and I kept going. I made it to 101 before everyone cut me off. I am an official member of The Century Club, and I would like to attempt it again sometime, but I no longer have the pressure of having to complete it since I'm already in the club. After finishing those beer, I thought that would be prime time to talk to my ex who was at the party, and who had recently broken up with me, about why they did it. Hahahaha I'm a thinker! The puking in the neighbours bushes brought the convo to a halt, especially since the neighbour was watching from the window! lol. Then back at Laceys, I just went through my drunken regular ridiculousness, i crawled under glass coffee tables thinking it looked like a coffin, i blew a candle out so hard that the wax exploded and covered my face and eyes, and eventually went to bed. I woke in the morning to hangout with the hangover and Lacey, until my mom would pick me up to bring me for KFC lunch with my whole family! KFC is probably the worst hangover food FYI. But, that night was epic! I am a member of Century Club! I had a GREAT birthday that year! Thanks Lace! Maybe this summer we'll get Lacey and Angelique to become members!

Shit! Where's My Shit?!

The other day I was on the phone with Lacey and we were talking about how it had been a few days since I'd shit; this is a VERY rare thing with me! Emilie always calls me a very efficient shitter cause I've got control over my shitty bowels like it's nobody's business....but not for 3 days. For some reason it just wasn't coming! And I had no clue why. All I had been eating lately is very healthy foods; mainly lots of veggies. As most people know, ever since my parasite that I got while in Panama in grade 11, my issue hasn't really been not shitting, but rather how to turn the faucet off whenever my stomach issues are acting up again. I think it had been close to 10 years since I can remember NOT shitting! It was stressing me out! So, the other day, I was determined to shit! All I ate was LOTS of fibre, spinach, fat-free popcorn, flax seeds, you name it! And I was eating it on my exercise ball to keep everything moving, and I was also eating standing up - "come on gravity I need your help!" I was drinking tons of water and huge glasses of tea to get the caffeine moving things. (Grossed out yet? lol. DEAL WITH IT! It's life, it happens. Shit happens! In this case, it wasn't though.) I started Operation Shit in the early afternoon, and after having to get off the phone with Lacey multiple times due to many false alarms, at around 11:12pm I SHAT! Hahaha. That's right, it took my whole evening up and I'm pretty much an old man, who's day plans are to shit....but I SHAT! I was so happy! i texted Emilie and Lacey to let them know (I'm sure they were very worried! lol). Now I'm back to my "regular" self! I wish you all a successfully shitty Friday!

Swimsuits

A little while ago, I was talking to Lacey on Skype while I was looking at swimsuits online. I was just about to leave for California and I wanted to see if there was a new swimsuit I wanted. Lacey soon started helping me out looking at them too. We were looking at Aussiebums (which I want SO bad), and Calvins, and hundreds of others. Lacey and I can across a site that had interesting "swimsuits". The things they called swimsuits were more like lingerie for men. You mind as well wrap a shoelace around your balls and VOILA a swimsuit! RIDICULOUS! I've attached a pics of the "swimsuits" for your enjoyment. Try and picture someone wearing that next time you're at the beach or the public pool! haha. Needless to say...I didn't get a new swimsuit. haha.

Gone to Aussie Land

My brother and his girlfriend Jess have left today for their trip to Australia for 5 weeks! They're going to visit a friend of theirs who lives there and while there they're going on a couple excursions and mini trips. I'm so jealous! I told him to look for an apartment for me while they're all over the country. During the summer of 2011 (probably the end of June or beginning of July), I'm leaving Canada for awhile. I'll be heading to Europe with a few friends (Angelique, Kaitlyne, Lacey, and anyone else who wants to come) to go backpacking for a couple months. I can't wait to be living dirty and poor all over Europe! It's going to be sooo much fun! I've always wanted to do this! Along the way, other friends will join us for a bit, and leave us, and we'll go see friends that live around Europe. At the end of the backpack adventure, Angelique and I will continue till we're out of money: we'll pick up random little jobs to make some money here and there and then when that adventure is over....We're moving to Australia!!! Ange and I have planned on living somewhere around the world for years now, and it's finally coming up! We originally were going to go to Ireland, but now the plan is Australia. It's easier to get a visa for Aus, I LOVE that kind of weather, I can get a job easier and Ange might not have to be a hobo since her marine and freshwater degree will be more appropriate for the coral reefs. CAN'T WAIT!!! You'll all have to come visit!

Sacrifice Sleep

So I'm up this morning earlier than I want, on a day I can sleep in as late as I want - NOT IMPRESSED! Why is it that every time I want to sleep in and get lots of sleep, I wake up early and the days I plan to get to bed early I don't actually go to bed till super late? For example....last night I was planning to go to bed kinda early-ish since I've not been getting good sleep. I was in my room sitting on my bed ready for sleep and everything; the problem? I was on the phone with Lacey talking about everything. I talk to her for hours every single day; on skype for hours every day (usually multiple times), texting and on the phone. How do we ALWAYS have something to talk about? lol. Then I was on Facebook while on the phone with Lacey in bed, and was chatting to Angelique about cooking with semen (check out yesterday's blog post). Ange is just as crazy as I am and that makes me SUPER pumped to move with her to Australia next year! And on top of all these things I was doing instead of sleeping, I then was talking to Beavers on Skype. Since I hadn't talked to him in a long time I was really excited and wanted to talk lots and focus my attention on that convo, so I got off the phone and Facebook and was just on Skype chatting. It was SO GREAT to talk to Beavers again like we used to all the time (he's been crazy busy with school and we've barely talked over the past few weeks). In the end, I didn't end up going to bed finally till after 3:00 sometime. I guess, since people are really important to me, my friends talk a HUGE priority over sleep. I don't live near these amazing people and so I'll sacrafice anything for a moment to spend with them. My friends and family are BY FAR the most important thing to me and I'll have endless sleepless nights if with them I can talk, see, chat, hangout with, etc. Although, this still doesn't answer why I can't sleep in....stupid body! lol

Mom's Cookie Packages

They always say the first step is admitting you have a problem. Well I have a problem. I am addicted to cookies! Cookies are my favourite food group and there is nothing in the world that tastes better than cookies! I can eat them all the time, any time (except when I'm sick. That's how you can tell something's wrong with me lol). And I have the best mother to enable my addiction. It started when I was leaving to university in 2006 and my mom and just gotten me a cook book called "The Cookie Bible". She knew that living in rez that I wouldn't be baking cookies so she foolishly, but to my SUPREME HAPPINESS, promised me that she would bake and send me a batch of cookies every two weeks. And she did! Every two weeks I would be excited to see that paper slip in my residence mailbox saying I had a package. I'd take the box upstairs and quickly open it to reveal what marvels laid inside this package. This Marc's Mom's Package ritual because a pretty well known hoopla on my floor and it was common to have 3 or 4 people in my room to see what she had sent "this time" (they also knew they'd be offered cookies if they were around lol). And every parcel had a new type of cookie from The Bible. Then after moving out of rez into my first place with roommates, I though the cookies would stop; they didn't! Mom's cookie packages still come (and still come!) very frequently; sure they don't come on a regular 2 week schedule anymore, but they still come! I think mom knows that cookies have a hold over me that I can't get out of (not that I'd try to escape the delicious babies). When I'm depressed or stressed, I get cookies. When I'm happy and loving life, I get cookies. When I've not been home in awhile, I get cookies. Hell I got cookies last week and then today I got a package in the mail and the only thing in the box?......cookies! My mom and her boyfriend made cookies for me and my siblings (I think every once and awhile she feels guilty for not sending them as many lol) and she sent a batch to my friend Lacey in St. Catherine's. This isn't the first time she's sent cookies to friends of mine, and I doubt it's the last. I love having such an enabling mother and that her partner believes in enabling my habit too! I started this batch of cookies and I imagine they will all be gone by the end of tomorrow (if they make it till then), and I'm already looking forward to the next batch! I become animal like when the cookie boxes arrive and pretty much tear everything apart just to get to them (as you can tell from the photo). So if anyone needs anything from me....just give me cookies and I'll do it!
